Volcano Vineyards Wins Another GOLD at the 2008 Grand Harvest Awards
Our 2005 Syrah was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2008 Grand Harvest Awards. The focus of the competition is on terroir, which is the influence of soil, weather conditions, and climate on the grapes. Wines are grouped not by varietal but by region or appellation. The largest competition of American wines was a bit more generous to the state of Oregon this year with Oregon wineries winning 8 gold medals. (Last year, wineries from Oregon won a mere three golds - and for those of you keeping track, we did indeed win one of those). This year, our Volcano Vineyards 2006 Syrah Lakeside Vineyard/Serenade Vineyard won gold, as did our Volcano Vineyards Rogue Valley Lava Red Blend. We also won three silvers for our 2005 Syrah Lakeside Vineyard, 2005 Merlot and 2006 Merlot (all Rogue Valley).: Volcano Vineyards Gets DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL at the Wine Press Northwest Platinum Judging
Volcano Vineyards 2004 Syrah, Aguila Vineyard Rogue Valley was awarded a DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL at the 2007 Wine press Northwest platinum Judging, an invitation only competition to find “the best of the best” of Pacific Northwest wines. The results from the 2007 Northwest Wine Summit are in and our 2004 Merlot was awarded GOLD. The 2004 Syrah was also a winner, taking a silver. Both wines now qualify for the Platinum Tasting sponsored by Wine Press Northwest.: And Speaking of Wine Press Northwest...
Our 2004 Syrah is reviewed in the June 2007 issue and it is given a rating of "OUTSTANDING!" That is the higest rating they give. They also selected us as their "Wine of the Week" for August 12.: Volcano Vineyards enters the 21st Century: We have a BLOG!

A Gold for the Syrah, and a Silver for the Merlot at the 2007 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. This is the largest competition of domestically produced wine in the US. There were over 100 wines on our syrah category and only six gold medals were awarded. And, we were one of only three gold medal winners from the state of Oregon (Erath's Pinot Noir in the $45 and above category and King Estate's Pinot Gris in the $25 and above category were the other two).
